Of Fragments 2025 - Chemigram on silver gelatin print - 23 x 26

Taranmana Latitude Art Residency, in collaboration with Kokos Huis and supported by the Andorran Government’s International Art Residency Grants, presents WHAT HOLDS, a solo exhibition by Alex Rispal. The title refers to what persists through change. Developed during his residency in the Swartland, the works respond to the region’s wine culture and its ongoing dialogue between human intervention and na- ture. Palm-tree fragments collected on site become sculptural material, carrying tra- ces of growth and time.
Rispal expands the chemigram technique, treating gelatin silver paper, chemicals, and light as physical matter. Surfaces are folded, wrapped, and cut, transforming images into objects. The exhibition combines wall works and sculptures in blacks, greys, and muted mauve and blue tones, reflecting on how forms retain identity whi- le shifting states and how photographic materials carry memory, structure, and pre- sence beyond the frame.
