Ruins amonsgt a mountainous backdrop, stairs that lead nowhere and telegraph poles, a surreal and dark scenery typical of Francisco´s Sanchéz artistic vocabulary.
Francisco Sanchéz (Montehermoso, Caceres 1962) a painter well known for these eerie and mysterious landscape.
Ruined landscapes, phantasmagoric and spectral scenes, thick atmospheres charged with a murky fog, rough seas and always with the absence of man.
He is a master of mixed media and an exceptional master of the color grey that he applies with charcoal stick. He then graduates the different hues with an eraser to reveal transparencies and lights and finishes off by lightly rubbing off some of the excess matter from the image with a soft cloth with an utmost delicacy. The end result is a soft blend of beautiful shades of silver, pearl, slate or gunmetal greys.
Recently, the artist has been working on two new series Cartography of Light and Virginal nature, and has gone back to color.
