This sixth edition of the International Biennial of Andorra, under the motto 'Pause to continue', invites us to rethink the rhythm of our lives and the relationship with the environment, opening spaces for contemplation and reflection.

Among the many proposals, La Panadella resonated with me, as on many occasions, more a few years back than now, I have found myself stopping for a break in the journey, in this kind of placeless locality that seems to emerge out of no-man’s land, spaces that exist in between presence and absence, that are both familiar and elusive.

La Panadella is a visual and atmospheric exploration of a place in suspense, a Catalan roadside town that becomes a metaphor for pause and collective memory.

Joel Jimenez Jara sensitively captures the psychological dimension of this space, where the routine of its inhabitants coexists with a mysterious presence that seems to manifest itself between the walls, paths and horizons of this place trapped between existence and oblivion.
